Sarajevo – December 15, 2015 - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations BiH Mirko Šarović met today with businessmen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BIH, the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska and the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the meeting they supported the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations sent to the Council of Ministers, to extend for the 2016 as well, the validity of the Decision on temporary suspension and reduction of custom tariffs for import of certain products, primarily in the textile and footwear industry. By extending the decision domestic export-oriented enterprises would be stimulated and their competitiveness in foreign markets raised. The decision applies to 54 tariff classifications for the import of production materials for export-oriented companies, and its application so far has had positive financial effects, which are reflected in the retention of existing jobs, but also in employing new workforce.
Representatives of the businessmen thanked Minister Šarović and his associates in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations BH on their care and support given to domestic economy. Businessmen pointed out that the decision was one of the best measures of the plan to protect domestic production, which, as they pointed out, foreign partners appreciate as well.
