Minister Šarović at OECD Conference: Corruption is key issue in BiH
10/09/2018
The biggest problem for BiH and its competitiveness is corruption, emphasized BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović at the High Level Conference on Competitiveness organized today in Sarajevo.
The conference promoted the OECD Competitiveness Outlook 2018, which was assessed by the Minister as "one of the best documents of the kind on competitiveness whose production took more than two years. This handbook contains concrete recommendations for raising the competitiveness of Bosnia and Herzegovina to a higher level. It is important for us not to forget this document and to work by it,” said the Minister.
He also said that during the analysis the real challenges were recognized that need to be addressed, such as the tax policy and EU-compliant legislation, as well as political stability of the country.
Representatives of the EU Delegations and OECD delegations in BiH said that significant progress has been made in removing trade barriers during the previous years, but that there are still many challenges ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina that need to be addressed quickly.
