Minster Mirko Šarović met with Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Hasan Murat Mercan

Minster Mirko Šarović met with Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Hasan Murat Mercan, Ambassador of Turkey to BiH, H.E. Ahmet Yildiz and representatives of major Turkish companies in the field of energy.

The meeting was held on the occasion of Minister Mercan’s visit with a business delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina with respect to a business meeting of Turkish and BiH companies in the field of energy. The central subject of the meeting was finding opportunities for Turkey's investment in the energy sector of BiH, as well as establishing business cooperation between BiH and Turkish companies.

The BiH Delegation, led by Minister Šarović, informed the members of the Turkish Delegation of the potentials Bosnia and Herzegovina has in the energy sector; from hydropower, mines, and power plants to untapped potential of solar and wind energy, and biomass.

Minister Šarović stressed that BiH energy market is very well developed, well connected with the markets of Southeast Europe and the European Union, and that it applies European policy and legislation, as well as that it is liberal and open for investment from public or private sectors.

Minister emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of energy between the two countries has been agreed, and that draft text of the memorandum is expected soon, which will than be agreed and signed later this year in Ankara.

Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Turkey said that the aim of the visit was to see the possibilities for the realization of concrete projects in the field of energy and development of cooperation between the two ministries. He expressed his wish for the Memorandum of Cooperation to be signed as soon as possible, which would be the first step in the implementation of planned activities.
