The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH and the Veterinary Office of BiH officially requested the European Commission to send a mission to approve the export of red meat (meat of cattle, sheep and goats) from BiH to the EU.

Inspectors of the European Commission's Directorate for Health and Food in the previous period carried out the planned controls and were convinced that the most important preconditions were met for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be approved to export the last type of meat and products of animal origin, after having obtained a license for exports of fishery products, milk, honey, poultry meat and poultry meat products, fruits and vegetables, namely potatoes as the most sensitive species, to the EU.

“This is an important moment for agriculture and economy in general, because the sending of an official invitation to the mission of the Directorate of the European Commission, as in the previous cases, means that we have completed all appropriate procedures and that the system has significantly advanced. We still need to finish the so-called zero inventory, which is the last activity before obtaining the license. By doing so, Bosnia and Herzegovina would fully meet all standards for the export of all products of plant and animal origin,” said Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Šarović.

We recall that the European Commission has previously approved the so-called Monitoring plan for residues for “red meat” for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the competent authorities in the past period implemented numerous activities to improve the system of official controls in the animal health and production of food of animal origin. "Taking into account the above, as well as the strong interest of our producers of meat of cattle, sheep and goats for export to the EU market, we invite you to come and carry out a mission in order to approve the export of meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina," it is stated among other things in the letter addressed to the European Commission's Directorate for Health and Food.
