Sarajevo, 08 March 2016 - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations BiH Mirko Šarović spoke today with the UNESCO Director for Science and Culture Ana Luiza Thompson-Flores about the activities related to water resources, as well as other activities related to the cooperation between BiH and UNESCO.

During the first visit of the Director Thompson-Flores to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations BiH it was emphasized that the aim is to strengthen and deepen cooperation, as well to identify potential areas in which, together with other international institutions and the authorities in BiH, they could provide support.

The most important project for BiH, implemented by the UNESCO and the UNDP, which was recently completed, is project DIKTAS (The Protection and Sustainable Use of the Dinaric Karst Transboundary Aquifer System project), the implementation of which was completed in June last year, and the value of which amounted to more than five million dollars. Four countries from the region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro, which share this Dinaric Karst Aquifer System, participated in the implementation of the project.
