Minister Sarovic with the Malaysian Minister: BiH SOON TO EXPORT MEAT TO MALAYSIA

"Bosnia and Herzegovina should soon get a license to export beef and sheep meat to Malaysia and the key conditions required by this country have been already met," was stated at today`s meeting between Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic and Malaysia's Minister of Domestic Trade, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
"At the request of the Malaysian side, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Veterinary Office of BiH have already submitted the request for export approval with all the answers so far needed. We have the necessary quality and it is crucial for us that we successfully met the European standards, which is why we have a developed trade not only with the EU but also with Turkey and Russia," Minister Sarovic emphasized.
The interlocutors agreed that the process of obtaining a meat export license should be completed as soon as possible in order for local producers to start exporting meat to this significant market. Malaysia imports 80% of meat and meat products from other countries.
It was also agreed to take steps to accelerate the entry into force of the previously signed Trade Relations Agreement between BiH and Malaysia, in order to open the door to trade in other products of plant and animal origin, in addition to meat.
At the meeting it was noted that overall cooperation with Malaysia has been on the rise, especially in the field of tourism. About 20,000 Malaysian tourists visit Bosnia and Herzegovina annually.
