MINISTER SAROVIC VISITED MINISTRY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM OF MONTENEGRO
06/16/2012
Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Mr. Predrag Sekulic received an official visit of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Mirko Sarovic.
On this occasion, the Ministers discussed a range of topics of importance for the successful cooperation between the two countries, paying special attention to discussing the opportunities to enhance cooperation in tourist exploitation of the rivers Tara and Drina for rafting and the issue of crossing the state border outside the border crossings during the tourist season.
It was agreed that crossing the border outside the border crossings would be simplified during the season, which should be defined in a separate Protocol.
It was agreed that the protocol should define equal economic conditions for the rafters of both countries and that this issue should be further agreed and coordinated by the municipalities of Foca and Pluzine.
Taking into account that the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of Montenegro provides for joint cooperation on the development of tourism sector in both countries, the preconditions for the creation and promotion of joint tourism products have been met, such as rafting on the Tara and other cross-border projects, using the possibility of financing from IPA funds related to cross-border cooperation.
Minister Sekulic said that tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina are welcome to Montenegro, noting that in the previous year 97 500 tourists from BiH visited Montenegro, marking a 2.5% increase in overnight stays compared to the year of 2010.
