SAROVIC- SATTLER: TO CONTINUE REFORMS
09/25/2019
Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic received the newly appointed EU Special Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, Ambassador Johan Sattler, with whom he discussed the need to continue accelerated work on initiated reforms and European integration.
At the meeting, it was assessed that significant progress was made during the term of Minister Sarovic in fulfilling the EU standards and requirements and that, regardless of the obstacles, the intensified work should be continued, especially on important reform issues.
“At the moment, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH has 16 adequate reform laws which, although prepared in detail, are waiting for their adoption only because of the inability to reach consensus of all government structures. There is no reason or justification that the BiH Parliament is not working, which is slowing us down and, unfortunately, causing other countries in the region to overtake us,” said Minister Sarovic.
The Head of the EU Delegation rated Minister Sarovic's work as "very productive", emphasizing that in the past period "there have been many successful stories which should continue working on".
The meeting discussed key strategies adopted by Bosnia and Herzegovina so far and the need for further effective cooperation and assistance from the European Commission in addressing the remaining issues relevant to accelerating progress.
