Meeting of Co-chairs of Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Russia, Moscow

July 11, 2013 – A meeting of Co-chairs of the Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Russia was held today in Moscow. The Co-chair on the BiH side is the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mr. Mirko Šarović, and on the Russian side Mr. Grigorij Eljkin, the Director of the Federal Agency for Standardization and Metrology of the Russian Federation. The meeting was held with a view to defining key subjects for a session of the Joint Commission planned to be held in the autumn.

Main topics discussed by Minister Šarović and Mr. Eljkin were:

- overall economic relations of BiH and Russia and possibilities of further improvements of the economic and trade relations through understanding of the current state and identifying the areas of mutual interest;

- open issues that hinder the mutual economic cooperation;

- possibility of establishing a direct air line between Sarajevo and Moscow, which would contribute to development of tourism;

- establishing an institutional framework to facilitate operations of business companies and employees from Russia and BiH in each other’s territories through agreements in the areas of taxation, employment, protection of investments and the like.
