MINISTER SAROVIC MET WITH BiH BEER PRODUCERS

June 4, 2012 – Minister Sarovic held a meeting today in his office with producers of beer in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and representatives of the Sarajevo Brewery, Tuzla Brewery, Bihac Brewery and the Grude Brewery.

Brewery representatives pointed out the difficult situation in the brewery industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has been deteriorating continuously over the years due to excessive and uncontrolled importation of beer from the neighboring countries.

The representatives of the brewing industry requested that urgent and effective measures be undertaken in order to protect domestic production, which would be harmonized with European standards and practices, as well as with the opportunities offered by the CEFTA agreement.

Minister Sarovic announced that he would soon present his proposal of appropriate actions and measures to improve the situation in this field to the relevant authorities.
