MINISTER MIRKO SAROVIC MET WITH WINE PRODUCERS IN BiH
07/18/2012
July 13th, 2012 - Minister Sarovic held a meeting today in his office with producers of wine in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Federal Agro-Mediterranean Institute, Association of growers and winemakers in Eastern Herzegovina, Association of growers and winemakers in South Herzegovina and the Association of growers and winemakers of Herzegovina.
The winemakers representatives pointed out the harmful and uncontrolled import of wine grapes to BiH, which, according to them, is a direct violation of the CEFTA agreement and the essence of customs legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Given the imminent accession of Croatia to the EU and starting of negotiations with the European Union in September 2012, the representatives of the wineries requested from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH - as the competent ministry - to negotiate a higher quota for the export of wine to the EU market.
Minister Sarovic stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations would start actions to prepare arguments for increasing the export quotas for exports of wine to the European Union.
