09/25/2019
After the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic and the new Head of the EBRD's Office in BiH, Manuela Naessl, it was pointed out that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) intends to invest 300 million euros in Bosnia and Herzegovina this year.
Naessl stressed that this institution has good cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina, as evidenced by the organization of this year's EBRD Assembly in Sarajevo.
She recalled that the EBRD has placed 2.5 billion euros in loans to BiH so far, and that during her mandate she wants to focus on infrastructure projects in BiH, on cantons and cities in the area of utility infrastructure, as well as the private sector.
"We would also like to support the energy sector by investing in plants that use renewable energy sources and can be built quickly," Naessl said.
Sarovic welcomed the new Head of the EBRD's Office in BiH, stating that in 2019 BiH started 19 projects with the assistance of that institution, while the total number of EBRD projects in BiH is about 160.
"As the EBRD Governor for Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am optimistic and believe that next year will be one of the most successful in terms of cooperation with this financial institution," said Minister Sarovic.
