November 11, 2012 – Deputy Minister Ermina Salkicevic-Dizdarevic met today with Mr. Wolfgang Stalzer, the President of the ICPDR and Mr. Phillip Weller, the Executive Secretary of the ICPDR.

The International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) is a transnational body, which comprises 14 Member Countries and the European Union.  Since its establishment in 1998, the ICPDR has grown into one of the largest and most active international bodies of river basin management expert in Europe. ICPDR deals not only with the Danube itself, but also with the whole Danube River Basin, which includes also its tributaries and the ground water resources.

The existence and role of the ICPDR are of great importance for BiH because 40.2% of the Sava river basin, which is the second largest sub-basin of the Danube River basin, lies in BiH.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Montenegro Mr. Velizar Vojinovic and the III Secretary at Embassy of Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Zorka Kujovic, with whom the Deputy Minister talked about current issues.
