Trilateral meeting between BiH, Serbia and Turkey improves cooperation

Sarajevo-October 20, 2015- Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirko Šarović, was the host of the Trilateral Business Forum of businessmen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Turkey, where it was concluded that this is an opportunity to promote all forms of cooperation, with a special emphasis placed on economic cooperation.

It was announced that a large investment conference will be held in early 2016 in Istanbul, aiming for BiH and Serbia to attract more investments from Turkey, which according to current indicators invests over $ 80 billion in the world. Attention was drawn to the tourist and economic potential and plans for opening, in the following time period, a joint trade and tourism branch office of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Istanbul.

The extent of trade exchange between BiH, Serbia and Turkey is greater than one billion and 500 million euros, of which approximately one billion is with Serbia, and 500 million with Turkey. A significant increase in trade with these two countries is expected in the next year. They also discussed the improvement of cooperation on infrastructure projects, which should be one of the main topics at the future joint session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of Serbia.

At the Trilateral meeting, it was agreed that, in the interest of all citizens, the development of economic cooperation should be continued, and it was announced that from now on BiH and Serbia may use Turkish trade branch offices in 160 countries around the world.

Together with Minister Šarović the Trilateral forum was attended by the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications in the Government of Serbia Rasim Ljajić and the Minister of Economy in the Government of Turkey Nihat Zajbekči.

Organizers of the Forum were the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and the Turkish Committee for Foreign Trade.
