Improving foreign trade relations between Malta and BiH
07/24/2018
Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Mirko Šarović met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of the Republic of Malta, Carmelo Abela, to discuss possibilities of accelerated improvement of the economic and foreign trade relations of the two countries, as well as the possibility of additional investments from Malta into BiH.
"The foreign trade relations between the two countries have experienced a significant positive leap in the past year, which clearly shows that there is room for strengthening the economic cooperation between the two countries, which in relation to the potentials, has so far been at quite a modest level", said Minister Šarović.
The ministers agreed to link the two countries' chamber of commerce systems in the coming period, in order to create conditions for concluding agreements and direct linking of businessmen.
Minister Šarović particularly urged to speed up the signing of the Agreement in the field of tourism, whose draft has been prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations. The signing of this Agreement would, according to the Minister, "be especially significant for Bosnia and Herzegovina, because Malta is a "tourist power", which yearly hosts 2 million tourists, which is 4 times more than its population."
Minister Abela expressed full support for the BiH path to the EU, stressing that this support is not only political, and that they are ready to provide assistance in areas where Malta has the best experiences and results.
