Deputy Minister Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević at meeting with Director of Spanish corporation Acciona Energia Mirko Tunjić

March 7, 2013 – the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mrs. Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević met with Mr. Mirko Tunjić, the Director of the Spanish corporation Acciona Energia. The Head of Deputy Minister's Cabinet, Ph.D. Admir Softić. The discussion was focused on the possibility of building a wind farm in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Deputy Minister Salkičević-Dizdarević briefed Mr. Tunjić on current wind farm projects. She underlined that a Wind Atlas has been developed for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which gives enough input on suitable locations for the construction of wind farms, and that it is available to potential investors.

Mr. Tunjić expressed Acciona Energia Corporation’s interest in working on projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and left open the possibility of his corporation opening an office in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He briefed Deputy Minister on plans and the Acciona Energia Corporation and stressed that this Spanish corporation - which is one of the largest in the world in the field of renewable energy – has wind power plants in 14 countries, and a significant presence in 19 countries on five continents. EHN has implemented a wind power project "JELINAK" in Croatia, and the development of this project began ten years ago, passing a thorny path from amending regional plans, obtaining all permits and approvals, developing project in an unfinished and uncertain legal framework, to realization of investments. The construction of the Jelinak wind farm began in early March 2012 and was completed in late November.

Director Tunjic informed Deputy Minister that the Acciona Energia Corporation would take part in the Tuzla Fair: Energy, Mining and Industry, as well as in the "ENERGA" conference, where it would present itself under the topic "Opportunities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Wind Energy and Acciona Energia corporation experience"!

Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mrs. Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarevic eventually thanked Mr. Tunjić for the interest in investing in Bosnia and Herzegovina and promised full support for all investments in renewable energy.
