Bosnia and Herzegovina will chair the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River during 2013, and Mrs. Salkicevic will be the president of this body during the BiH Presidency.
The tenth meeting of the ICPDR gathers heads of delegations of all fourteen member countries (Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatian, Czech Republic, the Republic of Moldova, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and the European Commission) of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River, on 27th and 28th June 2012 in Innsbruck, Austria. The existence and role of the ICPDR is of great importance for BiH because 40.2% of the Sava river basin, which is the second largest sub-basin of the Danube River basin, lies in BiH.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is represented at this important event by Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mrs. Ermina Salkicevic-Dizdarevic and Mr. Reuf Hadzibegic, Assistant Minister in the Sector for Natural Resources, Energy and Environment of MoFTER BiH, and the Head of BiH Delegation at the ICPDR. The meeting is of great importance for BiH because it is an opportunity to present Bosnia and Herzegovina as the country that will chair the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River during the year 2013, as well as to present Mrs. Salkicevic as new President of this body during the BiH Presidency. This is also a great opportunity to promote BiH as an equal and responsible partner who will meet this challenge.

"Water does not stop at administrative and political boundaries, so that the best way to manage the water is to be found in close international cooperation among all countries within the natural geographical and hydrological unit of the Danube basin. Despite current financial constraints, BiH will strive to consistently and fully implement the Water Framework Directive, in order to protect water quality and preserve our most important natural resource - water. This is an opportunity for an overall regional sustainable development that will bring benefit to the region and the opportunity for job creation which is of crucial importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the entire region, "said Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mrs. Ermina Salkicevic - Dizdarevic.

The tenth meeting of the ICPDR ends on June 28, 2012.
