Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic held today a consultative meeting with representatives of the chamber of commerce system in BiH and the associations on which they discussed the proposal for a decision on temporary suspension and reduction in the rate of duty on the import of new vehicles by 31 December of this year, whose the goal is to create a better regulatory framework for the import of new and, in particular, electric vehicles.

"The Ministry is ready, with the support of the governmental and non-governmental sector, to address this decision in the coming days to the Council of Ministers of BiH. The aim is to encourage the use of cars that will reduce air pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as Bosnia and Herzegovina takes the lead in Europe in the number of deaths caused by air pollution," said Minister Šarović, also emphasising that BiH is at the tail of the countries both in the region and in Europe as a whole, when it comes to using vehicles with electric or hybrid propulsion.

The Decision is in accordance with the Customs Tariff Law, it is temporary and may be extended if good effects are shown. Minister Šarović stressed that this is the first concrete action to promote electromobility, which should bring significant changes in ecology, but also to contribute to the development of infrastructure, the creation of new jobs, and, as pointed out, there will not be "budget dispersion".

Sending the Decision to the Council of Ministers of BiH for adoption has been supported by the entity and state chamber system, competent institutions and associations.
