Reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina are being implemented in a number of areas but their full implementation must and can go much faster, was said at today’s meeting of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic and UNDP Resident Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Steliana Nedera.

At the meeting, it was stressed that two directions – the European integration and fulfillment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals - are important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but full progress must be significantly accelerated.

"Currently in the Ministry we have ready 10 high-quality reform laws that, although thoroughly prepared, have long been awaiting adoption only because of the inability to reach a consensus of all government structures. This is hindering us, and unfortunately, many countries in the region overtaking us," Minister Sarovic pointed out.

The UNDP Resident Representative also stated that this organization would work further to speed up the activities started and expand the working field. One of the most significant projects of the UNDP in our country at the moment is the project "Green Economic Development" with the goal of creating a self-sustainable energy efficiency system with the realization of financial savings, reinvestment of savings funds and employment of domestic work force, which contributes to the market development and economic progress.

Stressing that this project is beneficial in multiple ways, Minister Sarovic said that the average energy consumption in public sector buildings in BiH is three times higher than the European Union average.

Minister Sarovic expressed readiness to continue further work and cooperation with UNDP, with gratitude for the commitment that this mission is continually showing towards BiH, through numerous projects in the sector of economy, agriculture, energy, water resources, tourism and environmental protection.
